When Becca announced they would be no longer trading back in March 2021, I couldn't believe it. How could a brand with cult products such as their Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector or Backlight Priming Filter do this to us? Okay, so that might be a little dramatic, but their highlighters have been staple in my (Emily) make up bag for as long as I've been wearing highlighter. Thankfully I still have a travel mini to last me for a little while longer, but if like me, you found yourself scouring the internet this week for one last champagne pop only to realise you've missed your chance and every single one seems to be sold out... I have you covered!
Pre-pandemic I was a bit of a make-up 'collector' shall we say. I loved trying new products and you would often find me spending my monthly pay check in SpaceNK, but during the pandemic I found myself trying to use up what I had and I came to the realisation that I don't need every new in make-up product.
Side note: I imagine there were a lot of people like me during the pandemic - maybe this is why brands such as Becca have struggled. Sorry Becca.
So, with that in mind I've put together three of the highlighters to get your hands on once your Becca stock has ran out (plus one bonus!)
This is probably more of a replacement for the Blacklight Priming Filter but it's also perfect on top of foundation as a highlighter. As you can imagine Charlotte knows her stuff so you are in safe hands. A little on the pricy side but a tiny amount of this goes a long way!
I have found Metal Moon to be a dupe for moonstone and Mean Money to be a dupe for Champagne Pop. Becca hit a gold mine with their highlighters so they aren’t exactly the same but Fenty beauty is an incredible and inclusive brand so they are definitely one to support!
At £5.99 the quality of this doesn't rival Becca (which was definitely a high end price point) but this is actually one of the closest dupes in terms of colour! One to have a look at next time you are in Boots!
This isn't necessarily a dupe but if you now have a high-end highlighter gap in your life/make up bag I would recommend trying Hourglass. The light diffusing powders are a cult hit for a reason - they provide a super soft almost blurring effect for the skin. This pallet comes in three shades - one for setting, one for highlighting and one for bronzing! They are only 3g each but a little goes a long way!
